The Buddhist Society of Pittsburgh unfortunately had to cancel our annual Vesak Ceremony this year due to the COVID-19 pandemic. This would have been the 12th year, and this special pan-Buddhist celebration has always been very inspiring. The Organizing Committee, which represents many of the BSP Sanghas, decided to come together as soon as would be safely possible for a shared Ceremony and social gathering. The Zen Center of Pittsburgh, Deep Spring Temple in Sewickley, which has wonderful outside space and a lovely Zendo building, has graciously offered to help host this gathering. The Gathering, which will be held outside with social distancing practices, is limited to 50 attendees. There is still room left! To learn more about the event, and to Register, please check here. The Schedule for September 12th is shown below, and includes embedded links to the Chants and prayers we will be sharing. We will meet at the Jizo shrine and process to the large Buddha, Dai Butsu, at the back of the property where our shared Ceremony will take place. Please bring your own: o Water bottle and water, and Meditation setup: chair, or cushion with blanket to use on the lawn. Please refrain from bringing: food to share or things (e.g.flyers) to hand out .
